The above drawing took me 24 hours (eight three hour sessions) in the Advanced Figure Drawing class at Gage. Geoff Flack was the instructor.

Ellen - I was so pleased to see all the great work you and the other folks in Geoff's class were doing. This is a terrific piece of work - wish we could have continued John R's series but you sure are continuing to build your skills. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! It was really fun to do. Every time I came in to class I'd think, "Gosh it looks finished; can't imagine what I'll spend three hours doing today. Maybe I should quit." and then the teacher would come round, make a few suggestions, I'd start working, and three hours later I'd think, "Wow sure looks better than it did this morning." They say the less experienced you are, the less time it takes to finish a drawing because you run out of things you can identify to fix, whereas an experienced artist will find all kinds of things to tweak ad infinitum. So I still fall in the inexperienced category -- but that's what teachers' comments are for :)
